what

BENEFICIARY NEEDS:
Structure, access to a social network, regain a sense of self-worth, independence, and development of professional skills.

SOLUTION:
CUCULA is a workshop, association, and a platform for cross-cultural exchange and experimental vocational training for young refugees. In the workshop, up to eight young refugees continuously learn the basics of craft and design. Supported by the adjacent educational program, that includes individual counselling, administrative support (searching for flats or filling out paperwork), and legal advice.
The CUCULA program consists of two parts:
CUCULA – REFUGEES COMPANY: a workshop where the fundamentals of craftsmanship are taught in an experimental working environment, high-quality design objects are created, built and then sold.
CUCULA – EDUCATION: where participants are introduced to German for professional purposes and courses relevant for vocational training and pursuing a career. Such as mathematics, geometry, organisational processes and work-related planning.

why it is
interesting

Their career-counselling program provides information about training opportunities available in Germany, an assessment of each person’s interests and skills, as well as guidance when making career choices and writing their CVs, before going on to apply for jobs at companies or enrol in programs in universities.

IMPACT:
The workshop provides a space for learning and creativity through the creation of high-quality furniture pieces. The earnings from the sales finance the educational program.
