who

PROMOTERS:
Liz Siena, a voluntary in a centre for refugees in Balham, South London and Andrew Lawton who works for the Refugee Council.
The project is made in partnership with Refugee Council and E5 Bakehouse.

BENEFICIARIES:
Refugee women.

what

BENEFICIARY NEEDS:
Improve their professional skills and their English in order to find a job.

SOLUTION:
Just Bread is an initiative designed to support the training, employment and emotional needs of refugee women. Participants learn about established bread making techniques in the UK and put into practice the skills and experience they gained in their home countries. Moreover, during the professional courses, English language learning support is provided to women.

why it is
interesting

It is interesting because the project is aimed only at women that often experience more difficulties finding a job and therefore integrating into a foreign country. Technical skills are provided to them combined with language training and emotional support.

IMPACT:
In 10 weeks of courses and with 8 participants in the project, 6 of them found part-time employment.
