who

PROMOTERS:
5 asylum seeker men with a passion for dressmaking
With the support of Eta Beta cooperative
BENEFICIARIES:
Asylum seekers

what

SOLUTION:
The 5 men started a tailor shop where every product they make is made from recycled materials, they make dresses, shirts, bags, and wallets by using scraps of clothing given to them by other tailors in the area.
The final product is then sold in markets within some community centres in Rome and the profit is partly reinvested in the purchase of fabrics and other materials needed and partly for the compensation of the men.

why it is
interesting

This project aims to become a start-up and one of the goals is to help other asylum seekers learn a trade in order to become self-employed.
Moreover, this project enables the asylum seekers to transform a passion into a job.
